BRIAN L. BALAZE, D.D.S.
Born and raised in Detroit, Dr Balaze received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan where he also played varsity baseball. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit in 1976 and continued to teach at that institution until the mid eighties. After serving in the Navy from 1976-1978 he joined his dental school classmate Dr. Gary Barnard, also a Pankey alumnus, in private practice in Lapeer, Michigan. Dr. Balaze practices all phases of general dentistry and has special interest in orthodontics, TMJ and bite disorders which led him to pursue further education at the Pankey Institute. He has well over 1,000 hours of continuing education in various aspects of dentistry. He is a member of many professional associations and study clubs and combines a passion for hockey and dentistry by serving as the team dentist for "College Hockey at the Joe" at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. Brian and his wife Mary Beth have been married for 33 years and have 3 grown sons, 2 of which will follow their father with careers in dentistry.
GARY L. BARNARD, D.D.S.
Dr. Gary Barnard completed his undergraduate studies at the Michigan State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Dr Barnard attended dental school at the University of Detroit and received his D.D.S. degree in 1976. Since graduation he has continued his education by attending numerous courses given by highly recognized dental educators and clinicians. Dr. Barnard enjoys all phases of dentistry, has attended the prestigious L.D.Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education and continues to foster his studies as a member of the Academy of General Dentistry. He also belongs to several other professional dental organizations including the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Barnard is an active member of the Lapeer Kiwanis Club and enjoys boating, fishing, golf, music and spending time with his family and friends. He has been married to his wife Dianne for 37 years and they have 2 children and 4 grandchildren.
